The 10th IAWA (International Association of Wood Anatomists) China Branch Annual Conference was held on November 10-12, 2023, sponsored by IAWA – China Group, co-hosted by Nanjing Forestry University (NJFU) and Nanjing Police College. Innovation Center for Efficient Treatment and Utilization of Forest Resources, College of Materials Science and Engineering, Nanjing Forestry University. The theme of the conference was “Strengthening Basic Research on Wood Science and Strengthening Interdisciplinary Construction of Forestry and Grassland”. Mr. Xinwu Xue - Vice President of Nanjing Forestry University, Director of the Science and Technology Department of Nanjing Police College and IAWA Executive Secretary Yafang Yin delivered the opening speech.

More than 240 people from 60 organizations attended the meeting. There were 8 keynote speakers from 4 countries giving lectures, specifically: - Professor Wang Shuzhi, researcher at the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, gave a lecture titled “The Use of Wood by Ancient Ancestors – Identification of Wood Relics Excavated from the Archaeological Site”.

- Professor Takao ITOH of Kyoto University delivered a keynote lecture titled “Key Issues Drawn from the Construction of a Wood Database in China”,

- Professor Ridwan YAHYA of Bengkulu University of Indonesia delivered a keynote lecture titled “Introduction of Ultrashort Fibers in Acaia mangitm: Size and Quality as Raw Materials for Papermaking”,

- Professor Yaoli Zhang of NJFU delivered a keynote lecture titled “Research on Wood Identification Methods and Functional Improvement”,

- Professor Ma Erni of Beijing Forestry University delivered a keynote lecture titled “Research Progress on the Response of Wood Cell Wall Components in Water Based on Molecular Dynamics Simulation”,

- Professor Zhang Junzhou of Lanzhou University delivered a keynote lecture titled “Interactive Effects of Climate Factors and Tree Age on Annual Radial Growth of Trees in the Qilian Mountains”,

- Dr. Nguyen Duc Thanh - Vietnamese Academy of Forest Sciences presented the topic "Assessment and conservation of world documentary heritage - Woodblocks of Nguyen Dynasty, Vietnam",

- Professor Xue Xiaoming of Nanjing Police College gave the main lecture with the topic "Analysis of the situation of law enforcement and science and technology needs from the perspective of environmental resource protection".

After the important lectures, a total of 58 speakers presented on wood formation, chronology, archaeological wood, wood identification, wood properties, new materials derived from the use of wood, wood and bamboo, and functional wood anatomy.
